NMB BANK’S 2ND HERITAGE WALK 2012 ON ITS 17TH ANNIVERSARY (29 DECEMBER, 2012)

NMB Bank marked its 17th Anniversary on 28th December 2012. To celebrate this day, the Bank organized ‘2nd Heritage Walk 2012’ in association with Kathmandu Metropolitan City. The Bank has been committed to pledge its support for the preservation of rich heritage sites since last year. The Bank had celebrated its 16th Anniversary by organizing the first ever Heritage Walk in the country. This year too, the Bank has given continuity to the initiative of heritage preservation by organizing the 2nd Heritage Walk. The sole purpose of this event was to raise awareness about the importance of preservation of our heritage sites among the local communities. The 2nd Heritage Walk 2012 was inaugurated by NMB Bank’s CEO, Mr. Upendra Poudyal by cutting the ribbon at the bank’s head office at Babarmahal. The Heritage Walk started from Babarmahal through Thapathali, Tripureshwore, Sundhara, Bhotahity, Ason, Indrachowk, and finally assembled at Basantapur for the closing ceremony with participation of invited guests, bank’s executives, directors, customers, staff, media & general people.

For the closing ceremony held at Basantapur, Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s CEO, Mr. Kedar Bahadur Adhikari was the chief guest along with other distinguished guests including Mr. Anil Chitrakar; renowned artist, social elite and media personality Mr. Kanak Mani Dixit, and CEO of the Bank Mr. Upendra Poudyal. Speaking on the occasion, all the guests emphasized on the importance of preserving the rich heritage sites around the country.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Kanak Mani Dixit congratulated the Bank for continuing this joint initiative with Kathmandu Metropolitian City. He further stressed that the Bank’s initiative commenced from last year has proved to be a positive step which has been instrumental in further generating the awareness by the local communities towards the importance of our heritage preservation. Renowned social entrepreneur and guest Mr. Anil Chitrakar said, “The heritage sites in our country are our identity, they are the link to our past and our future generations have the right to know about their past and enjoy the aesthetic beauty of the monuments.” Likewise Mr. Upendra Poudyal CEO of the bank expressed the Bank’s commitment to support the heritage preservation drive in the future as well and thanked all the guests, participants, sponsors for their support towards the cause. The Bank also organized ‘fund raising’ for heritage preservation by keeping a donation box at the Bank’s premises during the opening ceremony. The CEO of the Bank also informed that the Bank renovated the Gorakhnath Temple in Thapathali, Kathmandu with the funds collected from last year’s campaign.

NMB BANK, NOW SIGNATURE SPONSOR FOR MACHHINDRA FOOTBALL CLUB (13 DECEMBER, 2012)

NMB Bank has announced a major sponsorship deal with ‘Machhindra Football Club’ as the Signature Sponsor. The club will now be known as NMB Bank Machhindra Football Club. As their new official sponsor NMB Bank will help give the football team a financial boost that will help the team with assets needed in training such as up-to-date football kits and equipment. Machhindra Football Club is a growing club, located at Keltole, Kathmandu. Established in 1973, the club has won different titles in the numerous football matches over the years. Besides focusing on the football, the club also organizes different social and community based programs such as blood donation, chess Newa Film Festival, Open Musical Street Concerts and more.

The Bank also believes that sports are so important for health, social growth and future of the young generation. The Bank wants to support the growth and development of the nation’s youth by sponsoring the football club. The sponsorship deal between the bank and the club is not just limited to the Bank’s involvement in the football club. NMB Bank Sulav Remit allows customers to send and receive from within the country as well as internationally.

NMB Bank announced the launch of its Home Loan Package. The package offers loan facilities for purchase of land up to the amount of fifty lakhs and three crores for the purchase of houses and apartments. In order to ensure that the customers do not have to go through the hassle of fluctuating interest rates, the Bank provides the option of Fixed Interest Rate during the loan period. “We hope to provide the customer with the best package in terms on not only an attractive interest rate but also the processing and other facilities which would ensure customer satisfaction” said a statement issued by the Bank. NMB BANK SIGNS MOU WITH SAMRIDDHA PAHAD PROJECT, AN INITIATIVE OF THE BLUE BERRY HILL CHARITABLE TRUST, UK (19 SEPTEMBER, 2012)

A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between NMB Bank Ltd and Samriddha Pahad Project, an initiative of The Blue Berry Hill Charitable Trust, UK. The agreement focuses on exploring opportunities in increasing access to finance for rural youths, micro and small entrepreneurs (MSEs) who aim to promote access to financial services in hills and mountains community to build their capacity, financial literacy and enhance their livelihood skills. The step comes as part of the Bank’s focus on Rural Banking, to serve the unbanked population of the country.

NMB BANK & HIMAL DENTAL HOSPITAL ORGANIZE RALLY ON WORLD ORAL HEALTH DAY, 2012. (13 SEPTEMBER, 2012)

NMB Bank in association with Himal Dental Hospital & Institute P Ltd organized a “Prabhatferi” (rally) at Chabahil on the occasion of World Oral Health Day, 2012. The event inaugurated by the Upendra Poudyal, CEO, NMB Bank was organized to create awareness on the importance of Oral Health which is often neglected by people, said a statement issued by the Bank. The route of the Prabhatferi started from Chabahil through Battisputali and back to Chabahil. The event had around two hundred participants from the general public, Himal Dental Hospital and NMB Bank.

The agreement focuses on exploring opportunities in increasing access to finance for rural unemployed or underemployed youths, micro and small entrepreneurs (MSEs) for any farm and off farm sector in Kailali, Dhangadi, Doti and Acham of the Far Western Region.The step comes as part of the Bank’s focus on Rural Banking, to serve the unbanked population of the country, further tie ups by the Bank with similar organizations are expected in due course of time said a statement issued by the Bank.

NMB BANK INTER-SCHOOL HERITAGE PAINTING COMPETITION (1 SEPTEMBER, 2012)

NMB Social Initiative, with technical assistance from Srijana College of Fine Arts organized the NMB Bank Inter-school Heritage Painting Competition, a nationwide event on 1st September 2012 at the premises of Hanuman Dhoka Museum, Kathmandu. The competition was a part of the initiative on corporate social responsibility on heritage preservation undertaken by the Bank on their 16th Anniversary.

116 students from 69 schools all over the nation participated in the competition; making the event a grand success. NMB Social Initiative believes that the schools and their combined efforts will help them take a step forward towards spreading awareness about preserving the rich heritage sites of Nepal. “We are glad to have successfully organized such a grand event. Our belief that these students will contribute to spreading awareness on the preservation of our heritage sites, has become stronger after seeing so much love & respect for our heritage sites in their paintings.” said Mr. Upendra Poudyal, CEO NMB Bank. Furthermore he said that the bank has subsequent plans to continue this heritage preservation drive by organizing similar events in near future. He also thanked all the guests, judges, sponsors, and all participants for making the event a success.

Chief Guest for the event, Mr. Axel Plathe, Head of Office and UNESCO Representative, presented ‘The Best Six Artists’ with cheques of Rs. 20,000 each as part of the prize package. The Guest of Honor for the event included social entrepreneur, Mr. Anil Chitrakar. The event was judged by a panel of esteemed judges, namely Mr. Madan Chitrakar, Ms. Ashmina Ranjit, Ms. Shashi Kala Tiwari, Mr. Krishna Manandhar. The Best Six Artists of the competition were Ms Ankita Sunuwar of Holy Garden School, Ms Kripa Gurung of Dallu Awashiya Vidhyalaya, Ms Nisha Gupta of Suryodaya Secondary School, Ms Rupa Maya Tamang of Shree Bishwamitra Ganesh Secondary School, Mr Ashish Lama of Jana Chetana School and Mr Sulav Ghimire of N.K. Singh Memorial School NMB Social Initiative, is an independent organization formed by the employees of NMB Bank Ltd and its subsidiary, for the purpose of carrying out services for the development of the society.

NMB Bank Ltd announced the launch of NMB Bank VISA International Card. The launch comes as a step towards improved facilitation of the customers banking and financial needs. NMB Bank VISA International Card is a pre paid card which gives the card holder the convenience of either making payments for any product/ service or withdraw cash while travelling abroad, except India. NMB Bank VISA International Card gives the convenience of having all transactions in the currency most relevant to the user and also reduces the risk of carrying cash while travelling. NMB BANK BOOK DONATION DRIVE (10 JULY, 2012)

NMB Bank, as part of its CSR activity, has initiated a ‘Book Donation drive’ in all its branches across the country, with the initiative of providing books to public school (s) libraries outside the valley from the accumulated books. ‘The books will help the schools to reinforce the importance of reading habits among the students, which they currently lack due to insufficient books in their libraries. The Bank has requested the general community to participate in their drive by contributing books in the ‘Book Donation” boxes that have been placed in all their branches. ‘We request everyone to support this drive and donate books’ said a source.

NTC ADSL BILLS PAYMENT THROUGH NMB BANK LTD. (7 JUNE, 2012)

NMB Bank has started the bill payment of Nepal Telecom ADSL internet service. Customers can now pay their NTC ADSL Internet bills from NMB Bank through various payment modes. The modes of payment include cash payment, where customers can make payment at any of the bank’s branches by filling a deposit voucher. Subscribers of NMB Bank’s “e-Banking” and “Mobile Banking “can also pay their NTC ADSL bills through these services. Customers of the bank can also make their payments through “Standing Instructions”. NMB Bank Ltd has 21 representative points across the country.

NMB BANK LAUNCHES SULAV REMIT (27 MAY, 2012)

NMB Bank has launched Sulav Remit, its domestic remittance service. The service will be available in 54 districts across the country. Sulav Remit, in addition to being fast and reliable is comparatively economical; and the Bank will soon start International remittance services quote sources. NMB Bank Ltd has extended its ATM Services at Dailekh Bazaar, & Dhangadhi as a part of its endeavor to serve its valuable customer by providing wide range of products & services. The ATMs are believed to be convenient for all the people in those localities. These ATMs will accept cards from all banks and financial institutions in the SCT network along with Visa and MasterCard. The Bank’s ATM cards can also be used in all the ATM terminals of Punjab National Bank, India. With these two ATMs, the Bank’s ATM number has reached 22. HEALTH CAMP CONDUCTED AT ARMALA VDC, KASKI (7 JANUARY, 2012)

NMB Bank’s Pokhara Branch organized free health camp in association with Metro Hospital City on 7 January 2012, Saturday at Armala V.D.C., Kaski. The health camp is organized to increase health awareness among general public as a part of the Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The people visiting the health camp got free medical services and counseling from Gynecologist, Ophthalmologist, and General Physicians. The Bank has chosen health, education, and heritage conservation to conduct its CSR activities.

The Bank has also decided to provide banking services to the people living in Armala V.D.C. NMB Bank has been continuously providing value-added products and services to its clients, promoting a corporate culture that adheres to the highest ethical standards and shouldering on social issues beyond banking.
